General Dynamics Awarded $42 Million for RG-31 MRAP Upgrade Work
LONDON, Ontario, July 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada a $41.6 million contract modification for the installation of upgrade kits for RG-31 Mk5E vehicles previously delivered under the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program. General Dynamics Land Systems, the Canadian company's parent corporation, is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).
Contracts to assemble the upgrade kits, which will enhance the survivability and operation of the RG-31 vehicles to the latest production configuration, were awarded earlier this year. Installation work will commence in August 2011 at the MRAP Sustainment Facility in Kuwait and will be completed by October 2012.
The contract was awarded through the Canadian Commercial Corporation, a Crown Agency of the Canadian Government.
