General Dynamics Awarded $27 Million to Support Los Angeles International Airport Security Systems
FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), was awarded a contract by the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles World Airports, to enhance the closed circuit television (CCTV) and video management and storage system at the Los Angeles International Airport. The contract has a potential value of $27.3 million over three years.
General Dynamics will design, install, configure and integrate a state-of-the-art CCTV, video management and storage system which includes more than 2,500 interior and exterior cameras, as well as 120 workstations throughout the airport. The system will integrate with the airport's existing network, delivering digital storage and streaming video to security stations airport-wide. The CCTV and video management system will also integrate with airport alarms, sensors, audio feeds and a computer-aided dispatch system. In addition, General Dynamics will train more than 120 users.

"We will leverage our knowledge of the Los Angeles Airport systems and protocols to deliver an integrated video surveillance system that enhances local and national security for more than 61 million passengers annually."
Previous projects with the Los Angeles World Airports include relocating the Los Angeles Airport IT hub, integrating the existing video monitoring system into the Los Angeles World Airports systems and implementing video streams via the Los Angeles World Airports' IP network.
The Los Angeles International Airport is the sixth busiest passenger airport in the world and third in the United States. The airport has nine passenger terminals and occupies approximately 3,500 acres about 15 miles southwest of the Los Angeles central business district.
