General Atlantic Announces Promotions to Managing Director and Principal
GREENWICH, Conn., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- General Atlantic LLC (GA), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced the following promotions to managing director: Alexander A. Chulack, Cory A. Eaves and Brett B. Rochkind, all based in New York; Patricia L. Hedley, based in Greenwich, CT; and Gabriel C. Caillaux, based in London, England. In addition, the following individuals have been promoted to principal: Abhishek Agrawal and Robbert Vorhoff, both based in New York; and Nishant Sharma, based in Mumbai, India.

Gabriel C. Caillaux is based in GA's London office, where he focuses on investments in the Financial Services, Business Services & Technology, and Media & Consumer sectors. Mr. Caillaux works closely with many of GA's Europe-based portfolio companies, including Markit and Saxo Bank, and led GA's most recently announced investment in Privalia, where he will be a member of the board of directors. Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2004, Mr. Caillaux worked at Merrill Lynch from 2000 through 2004 as an Analyst and Associate in its Telecoms, Media and Technology division in London and New York. Mr. Caillaux holds a B.S. in Finance from Parix IX Dauphine and a Master's degree in Finance from ESCP-EAP European School of Management.
Alexander A. Chulack is focused on GA's global Financial Services sector in New York. Mr. Chulack has extensive experience in the sector, with specific expertise working with financial technology and asset management businesses, as well as with consumer and commercial finance franchises. Mr. Chulack is director, board observer or key contributor for several current and prior portfolio companies, including Pierpont Securities, First Republic Bank, GETCO LLC and RiskMetrics. Prior to joining GA, Mr. Chulack was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co., where he worked with the firm's financial institutions clients. Mr. Chulack received his B.A. in Economics from Amherst College.
Cory A. Eaves leads the technology and operations team of GA's Resources Group, where he provides expertise and strategic counsel to GA's investment teams and its portfolio companies. Mr. Eaves joined GA in 2009 from Misys plc, a global provider of software and services to the healthcare and financial services industries, where he was Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer. Additionally, he was a member of the board of directors for Allscripts. Mr. Eaves brings more than 20 years of operational experience, including previously serving as Chief Technology Officer of SSA Global Technologies, one of the world's largest enterprise software providers and a former GA portfolio company. Mr. Eaves completed his B.S.E.E. at the University of Iowa; his M.B.A., cum laude, at Babson College; and the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Patricia L. Hedley heads GA's global marketing and communications efforts and is a member of the firm's Resources Group assisting GA's global portfolio companies with a broad range of operational issues, including human capital management, branding and investor relations. Ms. Hedley joined GA in 1987 as an investment professional targeting companies in the business services and technology sector and assisting portfolio companies with their growth strategies. Prior to GA, Ms. Hedley worked with MediVision, a nationwide chain of ophthalmic surgery centers, when it was started and funded by Bain Capital, and previously was an Associate Consultant with Bain & Company. Ms. Hedley holds an A.B. in Computer Science and Government from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
Brett B. Rochkind focuses on GA's global Business Services & Technology sector. Mr. Rochkind recently returned to New York from GA's Hong Kong office, where he focused on opportunities in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific region. Since joining General Atlantic in 2002, Mr. Rochkind has worked closely with many of GA's portfolio companies in the business services and technology sector, including Alibaba Group, IHS, MercadoLibre and SSA Global Technologies, among others. Prior to joining GA, Mr. Rochkind was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. in its Mergers & Acquisitions department in New York and Menlo Park, and helped to establish Morgan Stanley's Israel office based in Tel Aviv. Mr. Rochkind graduated magna cum laude and as a University Scholar from the Stern School of Business at New York University and earned his M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
Abhishek Agrawal focuses on investments in the Media & Consumer sector and has been closely involved in most of GA's internet and digital media investments since he joined the firm in 2005. Mr. Agrawal serves on the board of directors of Network Solutions and is a board observer for AKQA, Dice Holdings, Gilt Groupe and Red Ventures. Prior to joining GA, Mr. Agrawal was with Lazard Technology Partners, an internet and technology focused venture capital firm. Mr. Agrawal received his B.S. in Economics with concentration in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
Nishant Sharma is based in GA's Mumbai office, where he focuses on investments in the Healthcare, Energy & Resources and Business Services & Technology sectors. Mr. Sharma is a board observer on the IBS board of directors. Prior to joining GA in 2006, Mr. Sharma worked at McKinsey & Company in its India office. In addition, he worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in setting up the largest HIV/AIDS prevention program in India. Mr. Sharma holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He received his B.Tech in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from IIT Delhi.
Robbert Vorhoff is based in GA's New York office, where he focuses on investments in the Healthcare sector. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors for MedExpress and has worked closely with several prior GA portfolio companies, including NYSE Euronext, RiskMetrics Group, and Grupo Qualicorp in Brazil. Prior to joining GA in 2003, Mr. Vorhoff worked as an Analyst at Greenhill & Co. in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Restructuring advisory groups and then as an Associate in the firm's private equity group, Greenhill Capital Partners, where he focused on investments in financial services, energy and education. Mr. Vorhoff received a B.S. in Commerce with a concentration in Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
