SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The GenCorp Foundation continues to advance its mission of community support and giving with the announcement of its $202,800 in grants dedicated to nonprofit and educational groups. Organizations in Sacramento, Calif.; Camden, Ark.; Redmond, Wash. and Washington, D.C. will receive grants that primarily support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education outreach efforts.
"The GenCorp Foundation deeply values STEM education and its far-reaching impact," said GenCorp Foundation Director, Juanita Garcia. "Our nation will always need a world-class technical workforce, and investing in STEM now ensures a bright future for students and our country."
The grants represent the foundation's giving for the 2011 third quarter, and bring the organization's annual contributions to more than $440,000.
California grant recipients include:
- Aerospace Museum of California
- Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado County-Western Slope
- Discovery Museum Science and Space Center
- Folsom Lake College
- University of California, Davis
Arkansas grant recipients include:
- Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science and the Arts
- Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
- Southern Arkansas University Tech
Washington grant recipients include:
- Pacific Science Center
- Museum of Flight
- University of Washington
Washington, D.C. grant recipient:
- Virginia Space Grant Consortium
