Gaylord Hotels Celebrates Summer With Themed Events

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the season of summer fun in the sun approaches, Gaylord Hotels' giant resort destinations are planning large-scale SummerFest events that will include endless themed activities the entire family will enjoy from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The exciting new seasonal programming is offered in partnership with Aquafina®.

"Pirates on the Potomac" at Gaylord National Resort – National Harbor, Maryland

Pirates will invade Gaylord National Resort this summer, with guests discovering hidden treasure, a pirate's feast, swashbuckling adventures and more.

Some of the resort's themed pirate festivities will include the Capt'n Bones Buccaneer Breakfast, the First Mate's Treasure Hunt, Swashbuckler's Story Time Adventures, the Pirate Pool Invasion and strolling entertainment. Brand new this year, a free laser light show will be launched inside the resort's 19-story indoor atrium in July.

Other offerings will include a SoBe® Splash Party on select weekends, a new summer concert series, nightly fountain shows, fitness classes, spa specials, and seasonal culinary and cocktail offerings at the resort's dining outlets.  

Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book at Gaylord Opryland Resort – Nashville, Tennessee

At Gaylord Opryland Resort, visitors will enjoy live entertainment, poolside play and delicious dining, plus an array of family-friendly events and activities based on the short stories of Mowgli, a boy surviving in the wild jungles of India.

Teeming with subtropical plant life and multi-story waterfalls, the resort's nine acres of indoor gardens will set the stage for adventure, where visitors will feel as if they were stepping into the pages of Kipling's timeless coming-of-age fables – with events ranging from animal encounters and themed games to scavenger hunts and jungle riverboat cruises.

Additionally, the resort will offer SoBe Splash Party, fountain shows, guided hotel & garden tours, family movie nights, spa specials, kids golf, and kids dining specials. Adults will enjoy Bites & Flights at the Conservatory Wine Bar, Jack Daniel's Patio at the Magnolia Pool, Old-Fashioned Happy Hours at The Library Lounge, and "Pick 4, Save $4" Wine & Beer Buckets at the Cascades and Magnolia pools.

Princess Blackheart and the Buccaneer Bash at Gaylord Palms Resort – Kissimmee, Florida

Gaylord Palms Resort will be hunkering down for an invasion of princesses, pirates, merfolk and mayhem as the "Princess Blackheart and the Buccaneer Bash" tells the story of a true pirate princess from her elevation to ruler of the pirate kingdom.

Themed activities will include the Blackheart's Treasure Hunt, Merfolk Academy underwater adventure, Princess Priscilla's Coronation Character Breakfast, Y'arrrrd Games, Ahoy Mate Movies on the Deck, ARRts & Crafts, a Pirate's Invasion Parade and SoBe Splash Party.

Kids and kids-at-heart will be invited to climb upon a story ship, the Siren's Song, to listen to the tall tales of the Seven Seas. The high-energy show will involve theatrics, chanties, and s'mores under
the stars.

Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at Gaylord Texan Resort – Grapevine, Texas

Visitors will take a trip through the looking glass at Gaylord Texan Resort this summer, with a variety of themed activities including a 4D walk through "Wonderland Adventure" attraction, "This Way & That Way" scavenger hunt, Cups & Canvases kids crafts, Hatter's Tea Party, Queen of Hearts "Light Up the Night" Party, The Queen of Arts Local Art Walk and Giant Sand Sculptures from Wonderland.

Brand new this summer, the resort will also feature a free 3D visual light show, "Breaking Through the Looking Glass", where stunning visuals, lights, music and sound effects take you down the rabbit hole as the indoor atrium structures are wonderfully transformed into a live canvas filled with spectacular Alice-themed imagery.
