PITTSBURGH, Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gateway Rehab today announced that it would expand its Westmoreland County residential addiction treatment facility and relocate its South Hills outpatient office from Pleasant Hills to Whitehall.
The expansion of the Westmoreland County facility, located in Excela Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., will include adding 19 beds to the existing 16-bed unit, increasing the detox capacity to 14 beds and rehab beds to 21. Plans are underway to begin renovations to the existing facility this month, with completion planned for later this year.
"We are following through on our original plan to expand the Westmoreland County facility," said Paul Bacharach, president and CEO of Gateway Rehab. "While we continue to operate 194 beds at our main residential addiction treatment facility in Beaver County, Westmoreland County has been especially hit hard by the current opioid epidemic and lacked adult inpatient facilities. We have worked closely with the Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission to offer convenient, local access to detox and inpatient treatment close to those living south and east of Pittsburgh."
The expansion of the Westmoreland County residential addiction treatment facility is being made possible by a $400,000 grant from the Westmoreland Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc., via state Department of Human Services' HealthChoices program reinvestment dollars. Subsequent outpatient treatment will continue to be offered at Gateway Rehab's Greensburg location at Outlet Way and Donohoe Rd.
Also, in an effort to offer more convenient, expedient access to treatment, Gateway Rehab will move its South Hills outpatient facility to a new location in Whitehall. The new location of the South Hills office will be near the intersection of Streets Run Rd. and Route 51, with easier and more convenient access to public transit. The move to the new location will be completed in March.
As an added convenience, walk-in assessments, with no appointment needed, will be offered every Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Gateway Rehab's Squirrel Hill office on Forbes Ave.
