Kenneth S. Ramsey, Ph.D., Will Continue to Consult After 2013
PITTSBURGH, July 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After 35 years of leading groundbreaking achievement and expansion as President and Chief Executive Officer at Gateway Rehab, Kenneth S. Ramsey, Ph.D., announced to staff today his plans for retirement. Dr. Ramsey has been a vital force in the national battle against chemical addiction for 44 years.
"It has been an honor to have worked with Dr. Abraham Twerski, a wonderful staff and an outstanding Board. I will retire from my position as CEO of Gateway Rehab effective July 1, 2013. I will remain in the capacity of consultant/writer until December 2013, working part-time at an off-campus location," Dr. Ramsey explained to the staff.
"A search firm will be selected to find a replacement for me. The Board of Directors will appoint a Board recruitment committee, and they will be responsible for making the final decision on my replacement," he added.
"Under Dr. Ramsey's leadership Gateway Rehab has led the fight against chemical addiction in our region and saved many, many lives. In addition, Ken has fought fiercely on the local, state and national levels to strike down the stigma that impedes successful recovery. During Dr. Ramsey's tenure, Gateway Rehab grew from a single-site, 28-day program with 39 staff members to an internationally known drug and alcohol treatment system with approximately 700 staff members in Pennsylvania and Ohio locations. Dr. Ramsey earned a bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia, a master's degree from Fordham University in New York City, and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Among his many honors, Dr. Ramsey was selected as one of the first 50 Pittsburgh area leaders for participation in Leadership Pittsburgh.
