Gateway Health's Patti Darnley Goes Red In Support Of Heart Disease And Stroke Awareness

WHY:           Heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women each year, more 
                   than all types of cancers combined. 

"Due to busy schedules, coupled with the demands of work and family, women often put themselves last when it comes to their own health," says Go Red for Women Luncheon Chair Patti Darnley, president and CEO, Gateway Health. "I see a lot of women stressed out and not taking care of themselves. I want to raise awareness about how important it is to take care of yourself. There is a great professional community here in the Pittsburgh region, and we need to take advantage of that."

Darnley sees the Go Red for Women Luncheon as a great place for women to learn how to take care of themselves. "It's more than a Luncheon," she said. "It's an expo that offers a lot of information, education, hands-on experiences, and networking." I invite everyone to leave the luncheon with a sense of empowerment….make the time to "KNOW YOUR NUMBERS."

The five numbers we all should know to take control of our heart health include: Blood Pressure, Total Cholesterol, Good Cholesterol (HDL) Blood Sugar levels and Body Mass Index (BMI).

Tweets and posts will be shown on the big screen in the ballroom throughout the luncheon. There will also be a silent auction to help raise funds for education, training and advocacy.  A demonstration of "hands on" only CPR will be available for attendees who want to learn.
