IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US today announced that Gary E. Wilson has joined the firm as a direct admit partner in the Private Company Services' Assurance practice in the Southern California market. Based in Orange County, Wilson will be focused on expanding PwC's service offerings throughout Southern California.

Wilson brings more than 20 years of experience, and joins PwC from Grant Thornton LLP where he was an audit partner and the partner-in-charge of the firm's Irvine office. While at Grant Thornton, he also served as the Southern California cluster leader of the Technology Industry Group, was an active partner in the firm's Consumer & Industrial Products Group, and the partner-in-charge of campus recruiting for the Southern California practice. His experience spans a wide range of industries including medical device, technology hardware and software, manufacturing, distribution, food and beverage, and life sciences. In addition, Wilson has presented and published on corporate governance, SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley related matters. Previously, Wilson was chief financial officer for a publicly-held bio pharmaceutical company.

Wilson is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Society of CPAs – Orange County/Long Beach Chapter, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Programs Committee of the Forum for Corporate Directors, the Center for Corporate Reporting & Governance at California State University, Fullerton, and on various advisory committees to prominent Southern California universities. Wilson received his B.A. in Economics and Accounting from the University of Michigan.
