Garden & Gun Is Calling For The Best Of Southern-made Products
CHARLESTON, S.C., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Garden & Gun wants to know who has the best Southern-made products, hands down. The magazine has opened the entry process for the popular Made in the South Awards with a call out to Southern artisans making products in five categories: Food, Drink, Style & Design, Outdoors and Home. The awards, now in the fourth year, have proven to be life changing for many of its past winners – often catapulting small businesses to the next level of retail success.

Garden & Gun's editors and a panel of expert judges will gather to taste, touch, feel and review the final selections. "The Made in the South Awards have become one of the highlights of the year for us at the magazine. Not only do we see an array of well-executed products, but are introduced to people whose passions and stories are inspiring," says David DiBenedetto, Editor-in-Chief of Garden & Gun.
One winning entry and several honorable mentions will be chosen in each category and their stories will appear in the December 2013/January 2014 issue of the magazine. In addition to the national exposure, each winner will receive a cash prize.
This year's judges are:
- Frank Stitt (Birmingham, AL) Considered the godfather of Southern food; Stitt is a James Beard Award-winning chef with three outstanding Birmingham restaurants.
- T. Edward Nickens (Raleigh, NC) An expert sportsman and author of The Total Outdoorsman Manual, the North Carolina native is a frequent Garden & Gun contributor.
- Sid and Ann Mashburn (Atlanta, GA) A former designer at J.Crew and Ralph Lauren, Sid now has his own clothing line and menswear store. Ann, a former editor at Vogue and Glamour, opened the ladies counterpart next door in 2010.
