Gameloft Executive to Speak at Seattle's Casual Connect 2012
VP of Production for the U.S. and Latin America, Samir El Agili, will discuss the challenges and successes of moving a major franchise such as "The Oregon Trail" into the free-to-play realm
SAN FRANCISCO, July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Gameloft, one of the world's leading publishers of mobile and social games, announced today that the company's Vice President of Production for the U.S. and Latin America, Samir El Agili, will participate as a featured speaker at the upcoming Casual Connect conference in Seattle, WA, July 24 - 26, 2012. Hosted by the Casual Games Association, Casual Connect is one of the premiere events for the casual games industry with over 3500 professionals in attendance.
"Over the course of the last few years there have been some major shifts in the mobile gaming market as casual gaming has grown at an exponential rate, and more and more publishers have transitioned into adopting more social components and varying monetization models into their games," said El Agili. "It is for those reasons that I am thrilled to be able to participate at such a great show as Casual Connect and address the hurdles that we as a company had to overcome in order to achieve the high-quality and level of success that Gameloft is known for."
As the VP of Production for the U.S. and Latin America, El Agili oversees five different studios which employ a total of over 800 staff members. The newest studio, Gameloft New Orleans, opened its doors in September, 2011 and currently employs over 40 staff members.
On July 24 at 11:30am, El Agili will be speaking in the Recital Hall on "Oregon Trail: American Settler - Navigating Gameloft's trek to Free-to-Play."
In this session, El Agili will use the various iterations of The Oregon Trail to help illustrate Gameloft's transition from the pay-to-play to the free-to-play business model. Key points of El Agili's session will also include:
- Appealing to a nostalgic fan-base while simultaneously attracting a new audience
- Developing and maintaining momentum in tycoon games
- Seamlessly integrating new high-quality content into a game post-release
In addition to El Agili's participation as a speaker, Gameloft's hit physics-based puzzle game Shark Dash, will also be displayed at Casual Connect's Innovation Showcase, an "art-gallery" style exhibition highlighting 10 of the most innovative games to hit the casual games market. The 2012 Innovation Showcase can be found near the Bronze Sponsor area of the conference, and will be accessible on July 24-26 from 9am until 6pm.
