GameCo, Inc. Secures License Agreement to Develop Video Game Gambling Machines (VGM™) based on Iconic Star Trek™ Franchise
LAS VEGAS, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- GameCo Inc., creator of the world's first video game gambling machine (VGM™), announced today that it has entered into a license agreement with CBS Consumer Products to which the company will develop a new skill-based gambling video game based on the iconic Star Trek franchise.
Set to debut in fall 2017, GameCo's first game under the license agreement, "Star Trek Deep Space Nine Adventure," will allow players to take lead of the U.S.S. Defiant and battle their way to victory through immersive ship-to-ship combat. The game will feature highly polished 3D models of the iconic spacecraft that will attract fans of both Star Trek and the space combat genre alike. The deal was brokered by Richmond Management Group and provides GameCo access to multiple Star Trek series including Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise.
Star Trek is a pop culture phenomenon consisting of six television series, 13 movies, and more than 700 hours of content available across several media and online platforms.
"This fan-favorite franchise has been entertaining people across the globe and is established as one of the most iconic and popular brands ever. We are excited to work with CBS Consumer Products to bring a space battle action game to casino floors that highlights the entertainment value Star Trek is known for," said Rich Maryyanek, Global Business Development, GameCo Inc.
Committed to offering a variety of video game gambling experiences for casino players, GameCo will release 10 or more new VGM titles in 2017, including games currently in development under license from major developers and entertainment IP companies such as Paramount's "Mission Impossible," "Paranormal" and "Ferris Bueller," as well as "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" from StudioCanal S.A.S.
GameCo recently launched its VGM at all three Caesars Entertainment properties in Atlantic City and at Tropicana Atlantic City, making it the first skill-based gaming company in the world to debut its product on casino floors. GameCo expects to maintain its position as the market leader in skill-based gaming as it continues a major nationwide rollout, with plans to be operational in most major U.S. gambling jurisdictions by the end of 2017.
GameCo's proprietary video game gambling platform was recently approved by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the industry's leading testing and compliance certification agency, under the GLI-11 standard. The approval provides a pathway for GameCo's devices to be marketed in most jurisdictions that rely on GLI's standards and currently allow slot machines and electronic table games.
