Game On! But, Are NFL Players Fit Enough to Face-Off?
Coastal Orthopedics' Physician Heads To Bucs Training Camp For Pre-Participation Physicals
TAMPA, Fla., July 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT: |
The NFL is getting back on track, but after the 132-day long lockout, are the players ready to hit the field? Coastal Orthopedics' Sports Medicine Specialist, Daniel S. Lamar, MD, a team physician for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be conducting pre-participation physicals and evaluating the players abilities at the Buccaneer Training Camp this week to find out. |
|
Just what goes in to evaluating the players? "We assess their general musculoskeletal health, ensure they aren't showing up with an injury sustained during the lockout, review old injuries and make decisions about their expected time/road to return to the field," said Dr. Lamar. |
||
Essentially the team physicians are responsible for giving the green light on a player's ability to play. With the first pre-season stand-off slated for August 12th, the question now is, 'Who is fit for practice?', because no one wants to start off the season on the injured list. |
