Game Commission Welcomes Fox To Board
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today said that when the Board of Game Commissioners holds its first quarterly meeting of 2013, on Jan. 27-29, the Board will have a full complement of eight Game Commissioners.
Charles E. Fox, of Troy, Bradford County, fills the vacancy created when the term of former Game Commissioner Thomas Boop expired. Fox was nominated by Governor Tom Corbett as a resident of represent Region Five, which includes Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Sullivan, Tioga and Union counties. On Oct. 15, he was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate.
A graduate of Williamsport High School, Fox graduated from Lycoming College; received his Masters Degree from Mansfield University and Administrative certification from Bucknell University. He is retired from the Troy Area School District where he was a teacher and school administrator; retiring as the High School Assistant Principal. He also served many years as a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer.
In addition to being a Life member of the National Rifle Association, Fox also serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge and the co-coordinator for the NRA Youth Education Summit. He also served eight years as a mentor to the Governor's Youth Council on Hunting, Fishing and Conservation.
Presently, Fox serves as President of Mill Cove, Inc., a group that is active in the development of an Environmental Education Center in Tioga County. Included in the Mill Cove Plan is further development of the site, which will offer outdoor recreational activities for Mansfield University students and residents from surrounding areas.
Being a lifelong hunter and trapper, Fox is affiliated with a number of outdoor groups and sportsmen organizations.
Fox and his wife Ursula reside in Troy, Bradford County. Their children are grown.
