DENVER, June 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Galvanize and Change Catalyst are excited to announce they have partnered to bring Tech Inclusion to Seattle, a two-day event that aims to build local solutions to an inclusive tech ecosystem.
"The Change Catalyst team and Galvanize's vision to provide opportunity for anyone with the smarts, drive and grit - specifically in underrepresented communities - has been aligned from the origin of both organizations," noted Galvanize CEO Jim Deters. "We believe this conference will inspire more people and companies to support initiatives that promote inclusion employment practices like removing unnecessary credential requirements and investing in re-skilling existing employees."
"As a native Seattleite, growing up in south Seattle, I am particularly passionate about this event," Change Catalyst CEO Melinda Epler says. "Seattle has incredibly rich diversity that is largely untapped in the tech industry. We are missing out on the wealth of experience from Black, Latinx, Native American, southeast asian, immigrant, LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, service veterans and women. It's time to get down to actionable solutions."
With a growing number of companies, organizations and individuals focused on diversity and inclusion, Change Catalyst has designed a safe, collaborative space to share best practices. We are excited to bring together the amazing people in the city who care about diversity and inclusion, so we can learn from and support one another."
Amazon is the presenting sponsor of the Tech Inclusion Seattle Conference, which is being held June 14- 15 at the Galvanize Seattle Campus. The two day event includes a conference and startup showcase on day one, and a career fair, connecting underrepresented groups with potential employees, on day two. Find out more and/or register here.
Galvanize has also worked with companies like Atlassian, Google and Adobe to bring underrepresented groups into tech. The company's Galvanize Foundation is a 501c3 scholarship fund which is focused on tech inclusion and distributes finances to tech immersive programs.
Galvanize and Change Catalyst are partners through the Google For Entrepreneurs network whose events bring thought-leaders for inclusion across engineers, entrepreneurs, tech investment/funding, hiring practices and more.
The Change Catalyst HQ team is located inside the Galvanize San Francisco campus, making it easy for them to provide inclusion trainings and workshops to the Galvanize startup and student community. The two organizations partner on Tech Inclusion events in San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, and New York -- opening up their networks to drive valuable content, promotion, and event execution.
