Galaxy Press Writers of the Future Short Fiction Anthology Earns Starred Review
Publishing company Galaxy Press' new short fiction anthology L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXV, comprised of science fiction and fantasy short stories written by new and amateur fiction authors, has earned a starred review in Publisher's Weekly
LOS ANGELES, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Book publisher Galaxy Press has earned a starred review in Publisher's Weekly for their recent science fiction and fantasy short fiction stories anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXV, edited by K.D. Wentworth.
"Always a glimpse of tomorrow's stars, this year's anthology is definitely a must-have for the genre reader," said the Publisher's Weekly review.
The anthology is a collection of fictional short stories spanning the genres of fantasy and science fiction, written by winners of the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest, now in its 25th year. Authors Donald Mead, Matthew S. Rotundo, Jordan Lapp, Emery Huang, Fiona Lehn, and Mike Wood all contributed captivating short stories ranging from postwar ghosts in Hiroshima to the life of the mystical phoenix bird. Each story is accompanied by an illustrated work from winners of the companion Illustrators of the Future contest, while several essays round out the volume of work.
"This is our first starred review in Publisher's Weekly," said Joni Labaqui, Director of the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests at Author Services, Inc. "The winners this year had exceptional stories, so it is not surprising to me that it would receive such a review. The judges reported this year that the story quality in general was very high and selection of the winners was tough. There are lots of talented people out there who just need a break. L. Ron Hubbard set up this contest to provide such a vehicle for the neophyte speculative fiction writers of the world."
L. Ron Hubbard established the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest in 1983 as a way to discover new writing talent and publishing the works of amateur, aspiring writers. Over the past 25 years, the contest has helped place over 250 novels and 2,500 short stories in bookstores and libraries worldwide. Furthermore, the Writers of the Future Award has earned its place as one of fiction's most prestigious literary awards alongside the Huge and Nebula awards.
