Gala Dinner: A Night in Washington with Friends from Baku
Chairman of House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia Rep. Dan Burton to provide keynote remarks
WASHINGTON, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Azerbaijan America Alliance, a non-partisan, non-profit organization providing information broadly about the culture, society, industry and history of the Azeri people, today announced that Rep. Dan Burton (R- IN) will provide keynote remarks at this week's gala dinner in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Rep. Burton serves as the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia and has visited Azerbaijan several times.
Additional musical performances, including by Eurovision Song Contest 2011 winners Ell & Nikki, have also been added to the evening's list of live performances.
WHAT: "A Night in Washington with Friends from Baku," a gala dinner celebrating the culture of Azerbaijan. Hosted by the Azerbaijan America Alliance under the honorary patronage of H.E. Ambassador Elin Suleymanov, the evening will include Azerbaijani music and dance as well as a dinner featuring a traditional Azerbaijani menu. The event will highlight the growing relationship between the United States and Azerbaijan, while celebrating the ancient and rich culture of this key ally in the South Caucasus region.
WHO: The night's festivities will feature performances prominent speakers, and the presentation of awards and scholarships. Members of congress and representatives of more than three dozen Embassies will be joined by government officials, academics, business leaders, think tank scholars and members of the news media.
