JUPITER, Fla., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- G4S, the leading integrated security provider in the United States, surpassed $3 million in donations to organizations across the country during the company's 22nd annual G4S Golf Tournament. In 2018 the tournament raised more than $125,000 with 276 participants from across the country and 75 volunteers. The money raised from the tournament is used to support local and national charities, including the Wounded Warrior Relief Fund, the United Way and Junior Achievement.
"G4S is committed to supporting charitable causes where we live and work," said John Kenning, G4S' Americas Region CEO. "Our team members have a passion for helping our communities, and I am especially proud of G4S' engagement in our Florida region where we are headquartered."
Funds from the tournament are also used to support Habitat for Humanity and the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization. In August, G4S sponsored its fifth home through Habitat for Humanity, donating $84,000 on the project with 63 G4S employees volunteering more than 300 hours. G4S has been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 2011, with more than 250 G4S employees volunteering close to 1,400 hours.
G4S has sponsored the DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk for Down Syndrome since 2012, raising funds for the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization. Since G4S' first involvement with Gold Coast, the company has donated more than $100,000 to support the organization's mission to support individuals living with Down syndrome and their families.
Local Florida organizations were given the opportunity to speak to participants about their missions and work they do in their communities during the day-long event. Additionally, members of the Keiser University golf team participated in a Beat the Pro event, competing against participants in a one-hole playoff. G4S donates equipment and proceeds from the tournament to the university and the team.
