The Winter 2015 report is based on more than 420 reviews written by business professionals.
The Grid(SM), which is created from G2 Crowd's software review engine, factors in customer satisfaction reported by users and vendor market presence determined from social and public data to rank products.
Digital analytics is business intelligence pertaining specifically to the collection and analysis of web traffic and activity. Digital analytics tools measure website traffic, locate user entry and exit pages, construct funnels to track user activity, and gauge search engine keyword rankings.
To qualify as a Leader, a product must receive a high customer satisfaction score and have substantial market presence. Google Analytics, Moz and Adobe Analytics were Leaders. High Performers have high customer satisfaction scores with a smaller market presence than Leaders. GoSquared, KISSmetrics, StatCounter and Piwik were all named High Performers. Google Analytics earned the highest overall customer satisfaction score in the report.
Across all digital analytics tools, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 82%, and on average reviewers said they were 80% likely to recommend the product they use.
Some highlights from the digital analytics reviews on G2 Crowd:
"Google Analytics is the gold standard for free web analytics. As clean as it is comprehensive, this tool allows you to track, organize, and report information relatively easily."
- Kristin Hertko, Web Producer at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy
"I use a few analytics tools throughout my day and [Moz] is definitely a favorite. Easy to use and easy to understand analytics in a snap? You can't really ask for more. You can see how well your website is performing and it will give you tips on how to improve."
- Leah Drayer, News Desk Editor at Issuer Direct Corporation
"I enjoy the ease of use and the insights I can provide using the Adobe Analytics tools. I use Ad-Hoc Analysis (formerly Discover) most frequently - I love how quickly I can set up a table with dimensions, metrics, breakdowns, etc. and run reports within minutes."
- Tom Gores, Digital Analytics & Optimization Analyst at Kohl's Department Stores
"I like GoSquared because of its no-nonsense approach to real time web analytics. [Its] easy implementation and [customization] options made it an easy choice for me. Add to that a team of super enthusiastic people working behind the scenes and you have got a tool you know will make your life easier."
- Matthew Niederberger, Co Founder at Lean Insights
"I really like that [with KISSmetrics], you are looking at individual data, rather than sampled data that changes every time you run the same report. Some of the built in reports are great, for example the path report...brilliant. Another very interesting aspect is that you can import data back into the system to fire events against individuals... this opens up so very interesting possibilities for assessing user [behavior]."
- Stuart Elliot, Digital Services Manager at University of Brighton
"The Paid Traffic report is great for quickly identifying click fraud. I also like the [easy-to-use] Download activity reports. [Overall,] StatCounter is great for everyday monitoring of sites...[it also seems] to provide more keyword information that almost any other software I have used."
- Matthew Ayers, Search Engine Marketing Manager at Rawle Murdy
"The best part about Piwik was its ability to track multiple domains, and report [that] data in one console. This was of major importance to [us], as we have over 850 different domains that we host...as part of our eCommerce network."
- John R. Scott, Director of Marketing at National Firearms Dealer Network
Of the more than 50 software vendors listed in G2 Crowd's digital analytics category, the 12 ranked products each received 10 or more reviews to qualify for inclusion on the Grid(SM).
Satisfaction rankings are generated from the user reviews, and market presence is calculated from vendor size, market share, and social impact. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as a Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.
