The Winter 2015 report is based on more than 220 reviews written by business professionals.
The Grid(SM), which is created from G2 Crowd's software review engine, factors in customer satisfaction reported by users and vendor market presence determined from social and public data to rank products.
Time tracking software allows users to record and analyze the amount of time spent on tasks and projects. These products typically replace paper timesheets and offer electronic methods of tracking time, invoicing clients, and producing reports. More sophisticated products may also include additional product management tools, custom features and interfaces, or integrations with core professional services automation (PSA) tools and accounting platforms.
This report includes standalone time tracking products, as well as platforms that include time tracking modules as part of a larger suite of PSA tools.
To qualify as a Leader, a product must receive a high customer satisfaction score and have substantial market presence. None of the time tracking tools included in the report were Leaders. High Performers have high customer satisfaction scores with a smaller market presence than Leaders. Replicon, Harvest, Toggl, Journyx and Clarizen were named High Performers. While Replicon and Harvest both earned the highest customer satisfaction scores, Replicon had a higher overall score due to its larger market presence.
Across all time tracking tools, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 80%, and on average reviewers said they were 77% likely to recommend the product they use.
Some highlights from the time tracking platform reviews on G2 Crowd:
"Replicon TimeAttend software is very intuitive & easy to use and administer. Setup was very easy and their technical support is outstanding. Every time I have ever contacted them for support, there was virtually no wait time, and every question or concern was resolved quickly. Highly recommended."
- Michael Smith, Director of Quality and Administration at Seeo Inc.
"Harvest has a simple and clean user interface that is consistent across the web and mobile platforms. The UI allows quick and easy tracking of time for the busy professional on the go. The [straightforward] reports allow for easy capture of time in support of the invoicing process."
- Martin Sullivan, PMP, Sr. Management Consultant at The Maryland Transportation Authority
"Toggl is really good for one [thing:] tracking time. Many other time-tracking applications have too many features built [into] their products. Toggl is perfect for tracking time individually and on teams."
- Adam Lehman, Founder at The Wonder Jam
"The Excel Reportlink feature [on Journyx] is excellent. It allows you to pull time and report on it using multiple filters. Reports are easily manipulated and are easily run for multiple time periods. Our end users find the time reporting functions easy to use...The DCAA Audit compliance feature is also great - being able to track changes and monitor all activity on a timesheet is very helpful."
- Becki Kuhl, Administrative Assistant at Lantana Consulting Group
"The Clarizen tool (V6) is likely the most configurable SaaS tool available...especially when it comes to the user interface. Meeting a company's need for custom fields & workflows to support unique processes is a major selling point of the tool...I believe one of Clarizen's strongest points...is that it seems to be able to uniquely meet the needs of the SMB all the way up to true enterprise requirements for [PMOs]."
- Jason Beamer, Senior Implementation Manager at LeanLogistics
Of the more than 60 software vendors listed in G2 Crowd's time tracking software category, the nine ranked products each received 10 or more reviews to qualify for inclusion on the Grid(SM).
Satisfaction rankings are generated from the user reviews, and market presence is calculated from vendor size, market share, and social impact. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as a Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.
