CHICAGO, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The inaugural Grid(SM) report for File Storage and Sharing Software for business, announced today by business software review site G2 Crowd, ranks six products to help software buyers in their selections. The Grid(SM), G2 Crowd's software recommendation engine, factors in customer satisfaction reported by users and vendor market presence determined from social and public data to rank products.
To qualify as a Leader, a product must receive a high customer satisfaction score and have substantial market presence. Dropbox, Google Drive and Box were named Leaders, and Dropbox had the highest customer satisfaction rating.
File storage and sharing software allows businesses to save documents, pictures, videos, and additional file types to a cloud-based server. These files can then be shared with and edited by internal collaborators or external clients. These products typically offer access across all mobile devices and operating systems, as well as integrations with many third-party applications.
As part of the software review process, professionals scored specific features of the products they use. Overall, G2 Crowd users were highly satisfied with the file storage and sharing products they reviewed. Across all products, reviewers reported the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 85%, and on average reviewers said they were 82% likely to recommend the product they use.
Some highlights from the business file storage and sharing software reviews on G2 Crowd:
"I like that you can use Dropbox on the cloud. This makes it easy to access documents on several devices and also eases the mind in case something happens with the computer - your files are saved...The benefits though have mainly been the ease of use, the ability to restore historic documents even though they've been saved into new versions, and the ability to share things easily with new people."
- Lauren Hardacker, Inbound Marketing Operations Manager at SaleAMP
"I recently started the 100GB plan with Google Drive as a means for storing [documents] and it has since become more than that. The main thing I like is the sheer amount of integration Google has been focusing on the last few years. You can save office file types into Drive, then use the Docs editor to edit those files. You can do this online and offline and makes it so the basics of office productivity are handled from one location."
- Sam Montoya, Project Manager at Primary Residential Mortgage
"Comments, discussions, and updates are possible around files I share on Box! I've been able to very easily access the same files across platforms, [especially] as I move from my laptop to a company desktop to my [Android] smartphone. I can avoid keeping stuff on a USB key...and just store it on the cloud instead."
- Eugene Chiu, Principal, Investments at In-Q-Tel
Of the 27 file storage and sharing vendors listed on G2 Crowd, the six ranked products each received 10 or more ratings and reviews to qualify for inclusion on the Grid(SM). Satisfaction rankings are generated from the user reviews, and market presence is calculated from vendor size, market share, and social impact. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as a Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.
