Fulton County Celebrates Successful Technology Project to Regulate Health Programs
FULTON, Ill., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Decade Software Company, LLC, established provider of web-based and mobile software applications for regulatory agencies, announced today that Fulton County Environmental Health Services has successfully adopted Decade's EnvisionConnect Software Suite, a multi-department environmental health information system. Fulton County uses EnvisionConnect to automate permitting, billing, and monitoring for food, potable water, sewage, tanning and body art, solid waste, complaints, and mosquitos, along with comprehensive reporting for all agency activities.

"We embarked on this project to boost efficiency and productivity in our office," commented Fulton's Director, Katie Lynn. "We knew that we needed to bring the department up to the 21st century- we were doing things we did back in the 1960s, such as using file folders instead of capturing data virtually. Reporting on our data was virtually impossible."
Lynn notes that Fulton County was tracking customers in an Access database; permitting involved creating individual Word documents and then merging those documents with the Access files. The need to perform billing and permitting in a more efficient manner is what finally drove the County to seek a better alternative.
"We knew that Decade was the company to take us to that point," comments Lynn. "We were looking at several other vendors and frankly we weren't sure they'd even be around in ten or twenty years. And while those systems seemed to be something that we'd have to adapt to, EnvisionConnect is clearly something that will adapt to us."
Fulton County has plans to further adapt EnvisionConnect to meet their needs, including adopting the best technology and practices to improve their productivity. The County will use laptops for mobile inspections, signature pads to capture signatures from facility operators after inspections, and portable printers for printing inspection reports in the field. In the office, clerical staff will take advantage of increased payment processing speeds with bar codes on remittance slips and a bar code scanner to capture payment details. They also plan to adopt EnvisionConnect Press Agent, a public-facing application that allows the agency to post inspection results to the web.
"We are happy to welcome Fulton County to the Decade team," says Darryl Booth, President of Decade Software. "Katie Lynn and her crew have proven to be quite the visionaries; very ambitious in their implementation project, with an eye on the bigger picture. That their implementation was completed on schedule and under budget is evidence of their dedication to providing the best services with the best technology."
