Fujitsu Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of ScanSnap
Milestone Marks 10 years of Innovation in Productivity, Efficiency and Organization
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu, the market leader in document imaging scanners, announced today that it is celebrating the 10th anniversary of ScanSnap scanners and a legacy of helping customers achieve a more productive, efficient and paperless lifestyle at home, the office, and on-the-go.
"Over the years our ScanSnap models have gone through many advances – from Mac introductions to a solution for consumers on-the-go – evolving with the document imaging landscape and customer demand," said Scott Francis, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "But the success of our ScanSnap family wouldn't be possible without the support of our customers. Fujitsu would like to extend a warm thank you for all the support these past 10 years, and assure you that we will continue to strive to surpass your expectations with new scanner features and products to enrich your lives."
Fujitsu has been revolutionizing the way people manage paper, making it easier to digitize data and share information with each new generation of ScanSnap. The ScanSnap series was first introduced in Japan in partnership with PFU Limited, the Fujitsu company responsible for developing and manufacturing the scanner, with the launch of the ScanSnap fi-4110EOX in 2001. ScanSnap made its global debut in 2003 with the launch of the ScanSnap fi-4110EOX2, and in 2005 presented the world with its first Mac compatible ADF scanner, the ScanSnap fi-5110EOXM. The ScanSnap S500 was introduced the following year, enhanced with the industry's best OCR (optical character recognition) and color image processing technologies, which enables users to increase the accuracy of their scans and easily search for PDF files on their computers.
In 2007, the ScanSnap S300 was introduced as the world's smallest and lightest A4 ADF scanner in its class. Even more features were added to ScanSnap in the following years, including the series first ultrasonic sensor, which appeared in the ScanSnap S1500/S1500M, launched in 2009. The ScanSnap S1300 was introduced in 2010 and in 2011, Fujitsu debuted its ultra-portable ScanSnap S1100 scanner, offering users ultimate mobility. It was also the first model to offer inherent cloud-linking functionality, such as Scan to Google Docs and Scan to Evernote.
