BERKLEY, Calif., Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cogitativo, a Data Science as a Service (DSaaS) company dedicated to the healthcare industry has announced the addition of two new executives to the organization.
"Hiring of key executive talent is a critical component in the development of Cogitativo and an important part of our expanding our applied data science capabilities," stated Gary Velasquez, President and CEO. "Our clients face accelerating market complexities which demand constant monitoring and evaluation of market behaviors. The addition of these proven business operators combined with Cogitativo's world-class data scientists enables us to better respond to our expanding client base."
Healthcare industry veteran Teri Mullaney will serve as Chief Strategy Officer and will position the company for continued growth. Ms. Mullaney recently retired from DST Health Solutions, where she was President and CEO, providing operational and analytics solutions to hundreds of health plans nationally. Prior to DST, Ms. Mullaney held executive positions with numerous healthcare companies, including Outcomes Health, EDS, and Equifax.
Ms. Mullaney stated "It is a new era. With the advance of machine learning, we can dynamically solve many of the cost and quality challenges that have plagued our industry for decades. It will also prepare us for emerging industry issues, both known and unknown. The technology is here, but many healthcare organizations don't have the bandwidth to leverage it nor to act on the insights it provides. Combining our deep healthcare operating experience and market knowledge with our AI platform enables us to work side-by-side with our clients to solve their individual and distinct issues. This, in turn, allows health plans to provide the best coverage for their unique markets. I am passionate about working with our clients to solve these problems during a time of great disruption and opportunity in our industry."
David Buhler, who has held senior financial positions for numerous health organizations, will transition from his role as Cogitativo's Chief Financial Officer to serve as the company's Chief Administrative Officer. In this role Mr. Buhler will be responsible for overseeing Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance and Risk Management.
With Mr. Buhler's move to the CAO position, the company announced the hiring of Beth Gray to serve as their new VP of Finance. She joins Cogitativo from Hint, Inc., where she was responsible for financial operations and accounting, strategic planning, treasury, financial planning and analysis and investor relations. Beth is a versatile finance professional with over 20 years of finance experience in pre-IPO and fortune 500 companies across industries that include SaaS, e-commerce, consumer products and investment management. She has also held senior financial positions at BlogHer, Inc., Linden Research, Inc., and Shopping.com (a subsidiary of eBay). She holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California and a BA in history and government from Dartmouth College.
"I am extremely pleased to join Cogitativo which is leading the way in providing data science as a service to solve complex problems in the U.S. healthcare system. I'm very excited to work with Gary and the experienced leadership team to help build a best-in-class company that will continue to identify meaningful insights for our clients and drives change in the healthcare industry," stated Ms. Gray.
"We are excited to have Teri and Beth join us, and for the creation of David's new role," noted Velasquez. "These changes will bring additional leadership bench strength to the organization, and will enable us to continue the building of our advanced data science platform which results in creating high-value, actionable insights for the healthcare industry."
