Fuddruckers® Sails Into Historic Galveston, Texas With A Three-Story Downtown 'Strand' Site In 1912 Armour Building Near Cruise Port
HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuddruckers® is bringing the "World's Greatest Hamburgers"® back to Galveston, Texas just in time for the Gulf Coast island's annual Mardi Gras festivities in early February. The iconic, San Antonio-born fast casual brand has just opened its newest location in one of the company's oldest sites: the 1912 Armour & Co. building at 101 23rd (Tremont) Street. The prime, downtown "Strand" district location is also Fuddruckers only three-story venue and offers a full bar, whereas most Fuddruckers restaurants feature beer and wine selections only.

According to Peter Tropoli, Chief Operating Officer, "Just an hour from our Houston headquarters, Galveston's beaches, bays, entertainment offerings and well-preserved historic areas are popular with travelers from around the state and the country. We're thrilled about this exceptional property, just steps from the Port of Galveston, which welcomes nearly one million cruise passengers each year."
Owned by Mitchell Historic Properties, the building was the recipient of a major restoration by Michael Gaertner Architects in 1994. While the interior now reflects Fuddruckers' signature roadhouse look, unique architectural elements include period details, exposed brick walls and original tanks remaining from the property's long ago use as a brewery. The restaurant also features a first floor terrace, plus spacious patios on the 2nd and 3rd levels overlooking the Strand and harbor.
Fuddruckers' hallmarks include always fresh and never frozen 100% USDA premium-cut beef burgers, legendary Build Your Own® produce bar, hand breaded onion rings and sesame-topped buns that are baked from scratch on-site throughout the day to achieve the perfect combination of crisp crust and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
