UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Mann's Blackhat from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will be released on Digital HD and On Demand on May 5, 2015, and on Blu-ray^TM and DVD on May 12, 2015.  Blackhat tells the story of a brilliant black hat hacker currently in Federal prison who is released and recruited by Federal law enforcement to stop a dangerous, global criminal network. After unanticipated consequences and assaults, he and his Chinese partner, who have become lovers, will go up against an overwhelming threat – on their own and isolated in Jakarta – as he tries to make a play to have a future.

Set inside the world of global cybercrime, Blackhat follows released convict Nicholas Hathaway (Chris Hemsworth, Rush, Snow White & the Huntsman.). In a not uncommon move, Federal law enforcement recruits a former blackhat hacker, currently in Federal Prison, to aid a war they will launch against a cyber criminal network, operating worldwide from an unknown base somewhere in Asia. It will take them from Los Angeles and Hong Kong to Perak, Malaysia and Jakarta. As Hathaway closes in, and as unanticipated consequences have made it all personal, he discovers the cyber sabotage of a Chinese nuclear power plant was just the beginning. Four-time Academy award nominated Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral) directs the heart-pounding, ripped from the headlines thriller.
