UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- After a freak accident ruins Ben's chances at the major leagues, he joins a competitive softball league for lawyers in Benchwarmers 2, the sequel to Revolution Studio's wildly successful 2006 comedy The Benchwarmers. Filled with side-splitting antics, this latest project from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, in partnership with Revolution Studios, has just wrapped principal photography in Vancouver, Canada and will be released for home entertainment in 2019.
Bringing together an incredible cast to the franchise, Benchwarmers 2 welcomes the return of Jon Lovitz (The Ridiculous 6, A League of Their Own) reprising his role as "Mel" and stars Chris Klein (American Pie franchise, Just Friends), Lochlyn Munro ("Riverdale," White Chicks) and Chelsey Reist ("The 100," Dark Harvest).
"Even a decade later The Benchwarmers continues to entertain fans all over the world," said Glenn Ross, General Manger and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment. "We are thrilled to work with Revolution Studios to bring the same humor and witty banter to fans and newcomers alike in Benchwarmers 2."
"The laughs never get old with the original Benchwarmers, and what better way to continue the priceless antics, but with a sequel. With our partners at Universal 1440 Entertainment and a hilarious cast and script, we are looking forward to bringing audiences Benchwarmers 2 in 2019," said Vince Totino, CEO, Revolution Studios.
Benchwarmers 2 is directed by Jon Rosenbaum (Cop and Half: New Recruit) from a script by Stephen Mazur (Liar, Liar). Executive producers include Kim Arnott ("R.L.
