PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Professional Football Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson and Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), the leading provider of food and beverage services to NFL stadiums, today announced they have teamed up to bring the former NFL star's barbecue talents to hungry football fans.
Trading his football jersey for a chef's jacket, the Hall of Famer has partnered with Aramark to develop a barbecue concept featuring Dickerson's long-held family sauce recipe.
Eric Dickerson's barbecue, branded EDQ, will debut at Super Bowl LI in Houston. Fans will have opportunities throughout the week to taste Dickerson's barbecue at events being held at Minute Maid Park, George R. Brown Convention Center and NRG Park.
"Texas barbecue has always been very special to me," said Dickerson. "I'm excited to partner with Aramark to launch EDQ and am looking forward to sharing my family recipes with my great fans."
"Eric Dickerson is one of the greatest football players of all time, who entertained fans with his record-setting runs, and we are honored to be working with him to bring together two of his greatest passions – football and barbecue," said Carl Mittleman, President of Aramark's Sports and Entertainment division. "His barbecue recipe has long been heralded by his circle of friends and we are eager to share his enthusiasm for great-tasting barbecue with a wider audience."
Dating back to his playing days, Dickerson has entertained friends, family, teammates and current players with his barbecue and, since retiring, his fondness for barbecue has only grown stronger. As a member of the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee and a native of nearby Sealy, TX, where he first developed his love of barbecue, Super Bowl LI is the ideal setting for Dickerson to kickoff this culinary venture.
EDQ's menu will include Texas style ribs, brisket, and pork using Dickerson's secret for savory barbecue -- the classic "mopping" technique.
Aramark partners with 17 National Football League teams to provide food and beverage, retail and/or facilities services – Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.
