Friskies® Takes One Giant Leap for Cat Kind

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Friskies® has declared Leap Day 2012, February 29, "Friskies® Plus™ Day," a day of extras for your cat. The celebration takes place on the ground in Los Angeles and online for one day only today.

To commemorate Plus Day and the launch of Friskies Plus cat food, the brand commissioned a nearly 10-foot tall, six-foot wide Friskies Plus Catstruction sculpture at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles. On display today only, the larger-than-life cat sculpture features thousands of cans of Friskies Plus cat food. Available nationwide, Friskies Plus is everything your cat loves about Friskies, plus a little more to help support clear, healthy vision; a healthy immune system; and healthy skin and coat. 

Friskies will donate the cans used to build the Friskies Plus Catstruction to three Los Angeles based cat rescue organizations. The Lange Foundation, Kitt Crusaders and Kitten Rescue each will receive thousands of cans of Friskies Plus. Combined, these organizations help 2,400 cats each year. Representatives from each foundation were on site to see the Friskies Plus Catstruction and receive an honorary can symbolizing the donations.

Friskies encourages Los Angeles area cat lovers to celebrate Friskies Plus Day by visiting the Friskies Plus Catstruction in person, and sharing photos on the Friskies Facebook page. It wouldn't be a Friskies celebration without some fun for online fans. Friskies Facebook fans are in for an eight-hour Friskies Plus Day party featuring extras for their cats, from toys to coupons and more. The Friskies Plus Day fun takes place on the Friskies Facebook page between noon and 8 p.m. EST with new offers throughout the day.  

To build the Friskies Plus Catstruction, Friskies partnered with Canstruction®, a nonprofit organization that specializes in building structures featuring canned food to raise awareness for hunger issues.
