ROCHESTER, N.H., Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Wound Center has been recognized with a national award for continued excellence in wound healing. The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine received the prestigious Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award for achieving outstanding clinical outcomes. It is the only wound center in the state to be recognized as a Center of Distinction and a Center of Excellence for five consecutive years.
Centers earning the Center of Excellence award must excel in key performance indicators such as achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent, a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 31 median days, among other quality standards, for two consecutive years. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics; the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services.
Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Wound Center is staffed by a team of professionals with medical expertise in the areas of infectious disease, general surgery, podiatry, and emergency medicine. The Wound Center specializes in treating chronic or non-healing wounds that do not respond to conventional treatment. These non-healing wounds can result from complications after surgery, minor burns, bone disease, post-radiation treatments, and can include ulcers caused by diabetes, venous insufficiency, injury, and pressure. A wound that does not respond to normal medical care within 30 days is typically considered chronic. With advanced treatments available, such as debridement, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, specialized wound dressings, as well as patient education, people with non-healing, chronic wounds have access to wound care specialists, close to home.
