HEALTHY EATING TIPS
When it comes to helping the whole family make healthier choices this summer, staying organized is key. Here are a few additional tips on how to stay organized and make better choices:
- Eat a healthy diet rich in superfoods. Lab research shows that certain superfoods such as blueberries, mushrooms, pomegranates and cinnamon may have the ability to combat cancer.
- Reduce the amount of fat and sugar in your diet. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, particularly fresh, uncooked fruit and vegetables. Aim to minimize red or pink meats in your diet, replacing them with poultry or fish.
- Make a grocery list packed with healthy options and stick to it! – Carry it with you for easy access anytime.
- Keep pre-cut and washed fruits and vegetables like blueberries, watermelon, carrots or celery in air tight, labeled containers so they're easy to grab and go.
- Fresh Frozen Treats – Freeze fresh cut fruits for a fun/healthy snack especially on hot summer days.
- Have a game plan for organizing your groceries/food in your refrigerator – make sure healthy options stay front and center.
