NEW YORK, March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Practising Law Institute (PLI) is pleased to announce the publication of the Sixth Edition of Friedman on Leases, one of the most acclaimed and trusted treatises in the area of commercial lease law. Cited multiple times as authority by courts across the country, Friedman on Leases is known for its expert analysis, commentary, practice guidance, and balanced coverage of tenant and landlord concerns.
This new edition – the first in more than a decade – continues to deliver the foundational knowledge required by novice practitioners, as well as analysis and insight into the most current developments in the commercial real estate field facing seasoned practitioners. Also featured is critical guidance on negotiating, drafting and amending essential documents, including sample leases and clauses.
The author of the Sixth Edition is Andrew R. Berman, a real estate partner at the law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, and a law professor and founding director of the Center for Real Estate Studies at New York Law School. Mr. Berman is also a former real estate partner at Sidley Austin, and practiced at Wachtell, Lipton and Davis Polk. In addition, Mr. Berman is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, and currently serves on the ACREL Leasing Committee and Legal Opinion Committee. Mr. Berman's unique experience as both a practitioner and scholar of real estate law allows him to bridge the gap between private practice and academic research, a perspective that he has sought to reflect in this revised and new edition of the treatise.
