Freudenberg Products for Food and Beverage Industry
Food Safety and Quality Focus in Each Phase of Production
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Freudenberg provides products and services for every phase of food industry cycle. In this highly regulated industry with high standards and requirements, they are recognized for their contribution to product quality and, most importantly, safety. Additionally, Freudenberg products and services make the food and beverage production and distribution processes more efficient and cost effective.
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations predicts that a 30 percent population increase, an additional 20 percent shift in population from rural to urban areas, and rising income in developing countries will require a 70 percent increase in food production by 2050. Consequently, processed foods will present a larger share of average diet, raising the need for new and innovative products and processes in food and beverage industry. In meeting these needs, innovations and process improvements that meet stringent safety standards while ensuring efficient, minimum-waste production will play an increasingly important role.
Increasing product line operating time, positively impacting productivity, and ensuring germ-free production environment are the benefits of Freudenberg products recognized in a wide spectrum of application from automotive to medical device industry. Food and beverage industry, however, presents additional challenges and opportunities related to flavor preservation and prevention of flavor transfer from product to product during production process, and Freudenberg products successfully address the challenge.
"Food and beverage industry is one of the areas in which different Freudenberg business groups benefit from sharing their individual expertise. Materials competence is an overarching strength, but equally important is the dedication to environmentally sustainable processes and organic products, as well as the world-class product quality," says Leesa Smith, Freudenberg North America president and regional representative.
Freudenberg has steadily increased its presence in the food and beverage industry both through organic growth and strategic acquisitions as a result of its strategic focus on "green areas." That resulted in significant achievements in developing environmentally friendly, biodegradable products that are compliant with strict regulations in the food industry.

They are both FDA and EU compliant for use with food-grade materials.
Kluber Lubrication, worldwide manufacturer of specialty lubricants, also recently added new food-grade products to its comprehensive food industry product portfolio.
ALLPLEX FMG series of greases is designed for use in applications where incidental food contact is possible. The product provides excellent anti-wear and extreme pressure protection from corrosion, excellent water resistance, and is applicable in a broad temperature range. It is also available with Kluber's innovative Klubermatic system, a single point lubricator that improves process efficiencies as well as safety in the workplace.
Kluberfood NH1 CH 2-220 is a fully synthetic, ester-based premier oil for lubricating chains in high temperature environments such as in baking ovens and beverage can production processes. Benefits are dramatically reduced consumption of lubricant and residue build up, cleaner operation, and smokeless oil application.
Kluberfood NK1 Z 8-001 Spray is a cleaner-degreasing spray, formulated to aid in the rapid and thorough removal of oils, greases, waxes and resin residues. Since it is organic, it helps promote safety in non-food processing areas.

In addition to Chemical Specialties Group businesses, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies and Freudenberg IT provide products and services to food and beverage industry.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST), a leading supplier of seals and other elastomeric components to 32 different industries from automotive and aerospace to fluid power, construction and agriculture, has been building its food and beverage product portfolio by providing customers with engineered solutions to a variety of challenges.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies Process Seals organization recently unveiled several new product solutions designed to meet the exacting standards of the food and beverage industry. The company's world-first, aseptic Hygienic Usit, seals are setting new purity standards for sealing technology in the food and beverage industry. The Hygienic Usit also has applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The Hygienic Usit ring facilitates sealing screw heads to prevent areas that come into contact with the product from being contaminated. This unique product allows customers to service their equipment much easier. Prior to development of the Hygienic Usit product, machines often had to be separated and re-welded during maintenance work. The Hygienic Usit now allows customers to perform maintenance easily and efficiently with minimal down time.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' Simmerring™ Radiamatic HTS II EWS product ensures the sealing of shafts in mixers and stirrers where especially strong forces are exerted through an integrated bellow that absorbs these forces and compensates for the sluggish recovery of the PTFE form.
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies also recently unveiled a new polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) compound, Y005, which is ideal for use in guide bands on valves used in the food and beverage industry. Guide bands in food manufacturing processes have to be extremely pressure resistant while offering a certain degree of flexibility. They also have to be able to withstand rigorous cleaning procedures. The PTFE compound Y005 achieves a targeted balance between pressure resistance and flexibility and resistance to CIP (cleaning-in-place) and SIP (sterilization-in-place) cleaning products, resulting in improved durability and shorter service times and 75 percent improved extrusion resistance compared to other materials approved for food contact.
