Frere Enterprises: BEZOS Act Could Spell Big Changes in the Mega-Corporation Industry

PETALUMA, Calif., Oct. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As a CEO or business owner, rising to the top of the business world may be the dream. Being on par with mega-corporations like Amazon and Walmart may be what is driving someone forward because that's what true success may look like to them. But that kind of success has recently received some backlash from Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Ro Khanna when they introduced the BEZOS Act in the beginning of September. The BEZOS Act, which is officially titled as Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies, proposes that for every dollar that an employee of a corporation, like Amazon, has to rely on food stamps, that the company has to pay the same amount in taxes. This isn't the first time Sen. Sanders has critiqued the richest man in the world, but this is certainly one of the loudest and most pointed critiques. While the name of the act is explicitly calling out Bezos and his business practices, any large, profitable company would be expected to comply.

Now, this act has only been recently proposed and would take time to come into effect if it is even approved to begin with, but regardless of how things go from this point, it is a huge step in history. It may pave the way for similar attempts at controlling mega-corporations that can be seen as out of control or the public may speak out against a nanny state being too controlling. But critiques aren't always a bad thing and can help a business and those that interact with it. "I take care of my employees because they choose to work with me.
