NEW YORK, Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaimed French winemaker, Gérard Bertrand recently appeared in the season finale of NBC's experiential travel show, 1st Look.
The episode, which was filmed in the heart of southern French wine country, includes visits to a number of Gérard Bertrand's prized estates, including Château l'Hospitalet and Clos d'Ora, all focused on biodynamic winemaking.
While exploring the South of France and art of winemaking, the show's host, Johnny Bananas gained first-hand experience of the complex activities involved in creating a biodynamic wine, with everything from blending sessions to barrel tastings and even plowing soil by hand with the local mule: "Everyone thinks they have some basic knowledge when it comes to wine, and then you spend some time with Gérard Bertrand and your mind is blown. The care that he takes in adhering to the biodynamic principals is humbling. And getting to plow the vineyards, blend the bottles and taste the goods with the man behind the brand was an experience of a lifetime," says Johnny.
Aside from the necessary science and physical work, Bertrand maintains that biodynamic winemaking is also a philosophy of life. As a result, he has created a variety of experiences in support of the art de vivre or 'art of living', including his summer music festival, Jazz à l'Hospitalet.
This year, Johnny Bananas was among the esteemed guests welcomed to the festival, which featured stellar acts from all over the globe, such as Seal, Texas and Gregory Porter.
The episode aired on Saturday, December 15th 2018 following Saturday Night Live on NBC and is now available for viewing on YouTube. Click HERE to watch it.
