French Toast Encourages Kids to Show the World What Makes Them Unique With $15,000 Contest
Leading Provider of School Uniforms Implores Children: "Show Us The Real 'U' in Uniform"
NEW YORK, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- School uniform provider French Toast today announced the launch of a $15,000 contest designed to encourage children to show their individuality and what makes them special and unique in their school uniforms. Children are encouraged to send in videos or essays with pictures – showing them clad in their uniforms – that illustrate and describe why they are exceptional. The grand prize is $10,000 in cash, plus a donation of $5,000 in French Toast school uniform vouchers to the winning student's school.
The contest, which is open to all uniform-wearing children, starts today and will run through September 15th. On November 1, French Toast will be posting the top 10 submissions online at www.uinuniform.com to let the public vote on which entry is the best. In addition to the grand prize winner, there will be runners-up prizes as well. The grand prize winner will be announced on or around November 30.
"We're excited to help children show the world that you can be completely unique and spectacular while wearing a school uniform," said Michael Arking, president of FrenchToast.com (www.frenchtoast.com). "School uniforms help to reduce 'label competition' in schools, allowing kids to concentrate on their studies," Arking noted, "but, as this contest will show, kids are still very much able to do amazing and spectacular things in their uniforms."
To spread the word about the contest, French Toast is using new media, including social networking sites and email marketing, traditional media such as billboards, nationwide retailer participation with in-store signage, along with outreach to schools and public relations activities, said Arking, adding that he hopes that moms encourage their kids to participate in this wholesome contest.
Video submissions – which must include some footage of the student in his/her school uniform – can be a maximum of two minutes in length. Essays can be a maximum of 300 words and must be accompanied by at least one picture of the child in uniform (maximum of six pictures). To learn more about the contest and to enter, log on to www.uinuniform.com.
