French Bulldog Reigns Supreme Once Again In San Francisco
Nationally, Labrador Retriever Remains America's Most Popular
NEW YORK, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Frenchies continue to hold the hearts of dog owners in San Francisco as they retain the top spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC®) 2018 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.
The Frenchie was also recognized as the #1 pup in New York City and Miami.
The Bulldog gained popularity last year in San Francisco, rising three spots to number five. The Yorkshire Terrier, however, fell out of the city's top 10 going from ninth to nineteenth in 2018.
"San Francisco loves its Frenchies," said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. "The city doesn't share the rest of the nation's affinity for German Shepherd Dogs, however, as the breed can't seem to crack the top five."
