French Bulldog Is Most Popular Breed Once Again In West Palm Beach

NEW YORK, March 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Once again, the French Bulldog took West Palm Beach's top spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC^®) 2017 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.

The French Bulldog was also recognized as the #1 pup in Honolulu, New York City, and Los Angeles.

The most sizeable jump in 2017 was made by the Cane Corso, who jumped from 31^st to 10^th, while Poodles slipped from 9^th to 14^th.

"This is the second year in a row that the French Bulldog has been on top in West Palm Beach," said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo.  "It looks like this playful, smart breed will continue to be a popular choice."

The AKC also announced its nationwide rankings today in a press conference at its New York City headquarters.  The intelligent, family friendly Labrador Retriever firmly holds on to the number one spot on the most popular list for a record-breaking 27^th consecutive year.

While the Labrador Retriever remains a constant at the top of the charts, the big mover and shaker in 2017 was the French Bulldog.  The easygoing, playful, adaptable Frenchie not only jumped two spots to number four, it knocked the Beagle out of the top five for the first time since 1998.
