French Bulldog Is Miami's Most Popular Breed
Nationally, Labrador Retriever Remains America's Most Popular
NEW YORK, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, the French Bulldog took Miami's top spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC®) 2018 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.
The French Bulldog was also recognized as the #1 pup in Houston and Orlando.
The Havanese and Doberman Pinscher both fell out of the city's top ten in 2018, while Yorkshire Terriers and Miniature Schnauzers climbed into numbers seven and ten, respectively. Miami's love for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel also showed this past year, as the breed shot up the ranks from number 30 to number 14.
"The German Shepherd Dog has been dethroned as the French Bulldog takes the honor of Miami's most popular breed," said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. "This playful pup is becoming a fan favorite all over the country."
