FreeWave Technologies' GXM Wireless Data Radio Is A Finalist For Control Engineering's 2013 Engineer's Choice Award
The GXM 2.4 GHz wireless data radio offers stellar performance, reliability, and quality for global machine-to-machine industrial networking applications
BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- FreeWave Technologies, (http://www.freewave.com), manufacturer of the most reliable, high-performance spread spectrum and licensed radios for critical data transmission, today announced its GXM was selected as a finalist in the Network Integration - Wireless Products category for Control Engineering Magazine's 26th Annual Engineer's Choice Award competition. The Engineer's Choice Award program highlights some of the best new control, instrumentation and automation products as chosen by Control Engineering's qualified subscribers who meet the following criteria: technological advancement, service to the industry and market impact. Voting is open now through December 31, 2012. For more information on the Engineer's Choice Award program, please visit: (http://www.controleng.com/events-and-awards/engineers-choice-awards.html).
"We are excited that our GXM product is a finalist for this year's Engineer's Choice Award," said Ashish Sharma, chief marketing officer of FreeWave Technologies. "This acknowledgement is proof that we are dedicated to innovative product development and technology advancements. We recognize the value in offering an embedded radio solution that is easily integrated into a variety of industrial designs both in U.S. as well as outside the U.S. where the 900 MHz spectrum is not available. The GXM offers the same advantages that our 900 MHz radios are known for – reliability, security and versatility -- in addition to having global capabilities."
The GXM is a member of FreeWave's GX line of radios. It offers OEMs, integrators and end-users who have adopted FreeWave's popular 900 MHz radios a familiar option in 2.4 GHz, as well as FCC, IC, ETSI and UL Class 1 Division 2 compliance all in a single radio. GXM's compact 1.4 in. x 2 in. form factor is a drop-in replacement for the company's tiny MM2, enabling OEMs to leverage existing designs where space is at a premium - making it ideal for industrial and manufacturing applications. The GXM has all of the functionality of the larger footprint FreeWave GX family of products and is backwards compatible with FreeWave's I2 and IM Series of embedded radios. Each radio is 100 percent tested for RF performance from –40 degrees C to +85 degrees C and manufactured at FreeWave's headquarters in Boulder, Colo.
Additional product features include:
- 500 mW maximum output power with an optional 100 mW limit to meet compliance requirements
- Linear power control that allows output power to be specified in dBm from 10 - 27 or 10 - 20 if limited to 100mW
- VSWR protection
- Improved low signal performance: RISC-based signal demodulation with matched filter.
- High noise immunity: superior performance in noise congested environments.
"The success of the GXM product is a great example of how FreeWave stands apart from the crowd as a top-notch wireless data radio provider," continued Sharma. "Our dedicated and talented team works hard to offer industry-leading wireless data radio solutions and superior customer support."
