The news comes as Freelancer.com announces a spectacular 33% growth in African registrations in the last 12 months. The company expects that the new multi-lingual features will accelerate this growth rate over the next year to well over a 100%.
With 8 million users and 30 languages on Freelancer.com, this crucial development will create the world's largest African business marketplace. It will help Africans quickly turn their idea of starting a new business into a reality, and help African freelancers find jobs with businesses across the world.
The new features, more than a year in development, will also help French-speaking Africans find jobs with French companies. They will also boost the fast emerging small business and start up sector across Africa, making it easier for businesses to outsource essential jobs, such as designing an ecommerce site.
The features automatically detect and tag the language a project is posted in using sophisticated translation technology. This can then be used to filter projects and customize content that Freelancer.com displays to users on the site, based on language.
Bill Little, Freelancer.com's Pan African Director, said "There's an increased appetite for freelancing and setting up businesses across Africa today. This entrepreneurial drive will be given a major boost by the launch of Freelancer.com's new sophisticated language features. They will help make Africa one of the most competitive business environments in the world.
"Now it's much quicker and easier than ever before for businesses from Tangiers to Cape Town to reap the rewards of hiring quality freelancers right across the continent. At the same time French-speaking freelancers will be able to work with ease for French companies based in Europe."
