Freelancer launches domain and website marketplace, Freemarket.com
SYDNEY, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Freelancer.com has launched Freemarket to provide its community of more than 13 million professionals with the safest and most affordable platform to buy and sell domains and websites.
Freelancer.com has launched Freemarket.com, an online marketplace which facilitates the exchange of digital goods particularly, websites and domains among technology entrepreneurs, SMEs, investors, webmasters and operators of web properties.
Warrior Forum, the world's largest Internet marketing community, which was acquired by Freelancer in 2013, had a popular domain and website marketplace which Freelancer.com has split off from the site and taken to the next level. This has allowed both platforms to leverage the consolidated wide-reaching user base - a powerful network no other domain marketplace currently has access to.
Internet marketers, developers and designers make up the top buyer demographics for existing websites. Feedback from the Freelancer.com and Warrior Forum communities have shown that its members are dissatisfied with the domain sale options available to them and there was strong demand for a new marketplace with a dramatically different business model.
"The suite of Freelancer.com offerings means that our community has access to a full service platform when creating, building and selling their entire business or services online. With no listing fees and only a 5% commission, Freemarket is the cheapest way to sell websites and domains in the industry," Freelancer.com Chief Executive Matt Barrie remarked.
On Freemarket, sellers can post both websites & domains and may opt to either put them up for auction or use the 'Buy-It-Now' option. Once listed, interested buyers will be able to bid or buy the asset. When the seller finds the right deal, a seamless handover process takes place.
Barrie further pointed out, "Over 3.8 million Website & IT projects have been posted on Freelancer.com to date - so we are already the #1 place where a large percentage of the Internet gets built! Now we're going to be the #1 place that these websites get bought and sold."
