FreedomWorks PAC Endorses Josh Mandel for Ohio Senate
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FreedomWorks PAC officially endorses Josh Mandel for U.S. Senate in Ohio as the clear choice for voters who support free markets, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government.
After one-on-one discussions with Josh Mandel, a detailed look at his record and most importantly, listening to what FreedomWorks PAC members and allies in Ohio have to say, FreedomWorks PAC believes Mandel is the best candidate for those who want to fight against runaway government spending and federal overreach.
A Marine with two combat tours in Iraq, Mandel has a solid record of four years in the legislature where he fought to reduce spending. Mandel has shown he can win state-wide with his overwhelming election as Ohio State Treasurer, where he increased transparency and submitted a plan to save taxpayers $1.2 million over two years.
"The outpouring of support for Mandel from FreedomWorks PAC supporters across the state of Ohio has been overwhelming. We have received hundreds of emails and phone calls from our allies in Ohio asking us to get behind Josh Mandel," commented Max Pappas, Executive Director of FreedomWorks PAC.
"Mandel is a hard worker who can attract support, even in traditionally Democratic areas of Ohio. Having received more votes than any other candidate for statewide executive office in 2010, Mandel is a formidable opponent for the incumbent Senator."
The contrast between Josh Mandel and incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown is stark. Since being elected in 2006, Brown has been consistently among the most liberal members of Congress, almost always voting with President Obama. Most notably, Brown was the decisive 60th vote on two of Obama's biggest policy failures: the stimulus bill that wasted hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars and ObamaCare with its unconstitutional individual mandate. Mandel rightly opposes both.
Pappas continued, "Josh Mandel has a real pro-growth agenda that will release Ohio's economy from the shackles of government overregulation, and allow businesses to start creating jobs again. Unlike Brown, Mandel will oppose EPA regulations which massively increase energy costs. He will vote to repeal Obamacare and replace it with cost-effective, patient-centered healthcare. And Mandel will oppose government bailouts that reward companies that make bad investments."
