FreedomWorks Launches Four-Part Legislative Action Plan: The New Fair Deal
The New Fair Deal is a Grassroots Effort to Work with Congress to Write Reform Legislation
WASHINGTON, March 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FreedomWorks formally announced the launch of the "New Fair Deal," a grassroots effort to work with legislative entrepreneurs in the House who are serious about getting the debt under control and ending big government's collusion with big business.
The legislation will stem from four main pillars, each addressing major concerns of grassroots activists across the country, including: ending corporate handouts, crafting a flatter tax code, passing real spending reform, and empowering individuals with the choice to opt out of government-run entitlement programs.
Eight fiscally conservative Congressmen have committed to writing the legislation, including: Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO), Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC), Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS), Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) and Rep. Reid Ribble (R-WI).
FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, "We aren't the 53%, or the 99% or the 47%. We are all Americans, and we should be competing on a transparent and equal playing field. It shouldn't matter who recruits the best-connected lobbyists in Washington. Corporations should play by the rules of the free market like everybody else, rather than trying to rewrite them."
"The New Fair Deal is a four-part legislative package that ends corporate handouts, closes loopholes in a simple tax code, balances the budget, and empowers Americans with the choice to opt-out of Medicare and Social Security. Individual freedom, economic empowerment and equal opportunity are the ultimate fair deal for Americans. No more pitting us against each other while politicians and big business pick winners and losers in the marketplace at the expense of everyday individuals."
Specifics of the New Fair Deal legislation will be released with grassroots activists from across the nation at the New Fair Deal Action Day on April 15th at the Upper Senate Park on the Capitol in Washington, DC. The event will be followed by hundreds of activists descending on Capitol Hill to urge their Representatives to support the legislative agenda.
