FreedomWorks for America Endorses Mia Love, Conservative Congressional Candidate in Utah's 4th District
WASHINGTON, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FreedomWorks for America announced today its endorsement of Mia Love, candidate for Congress in Utah's 4th District. Love won 70.4 percent of the delegate vote at last Saturday's Utah GOP Convention, and will run against Democrat incumbent Jim Matheson in the fall. Matheson has voted to expand the size and scope of government several times, including voting for the Obama stimulus bill (HR 1, 2009), the re-authorization of S-CHIP (HR 3963, 2008), and a vote against the repeal of ObamaCare (HR 2, 2011).
"Mia Love is the real deal for conservatives," commented Russ Walker, National Political Director for FreedomWorks for America. "Mia believes in personal responsibility, limited-government, fundamental tax and entitlement reform, and opposes government-mandated health care."
"She recognizes that government is part of the problem, not the solution, to our current economic woes. Mia will represent the best interests of Utah taxpayers in Congress, strengthening the Republican majority in the House, and expanding the coalition of fiscal conservatives within it."
Mia Love has a proven record of upholding fiscal conservative policy. As Saratoga Springs City Councilwoman and Mayor, she successfully protected small businesses from burdensome regulations resulting in a period of great economic growth for Saratoga Springs. The area saw 1700 percent population growth over ten years.
Mia played an important role in the Utah leg of the Tea Party Debt Commission, which coordinated with grassroots activists across the country to create the "Tea Party Budget," a grassroots-generated economic recovery plan that successfully balances the budget in 10 years, achieves $9.7 trillion in ten-year savings, and shrinks the government down from 25 percent of the economy to 18 percent.
"Mia Love's contributions to the Tea Party Debt Commission demonstrate her serious commitment to bold spending cuts in Washington," Walker continued. "Mia is a fearless and dedicated conservative who will not shy away from making the tough reforms we need to get out of an abysmal $15 trillion debt."
FreedomWorks for America plans to support Love's election efforts through an aggressive Get out the Vote (GOTV) voter education campaign including door-to-door outreach, phone banking, yard signs, door hangers, and direct mail.
