freecreditscore.com™ launches "Make a Better Commercial Than We Did" contest
Grand prize of $25,000, plus $2,000 in weekly prizes and more, at freecreditscore.com/contest
COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- freecreditscore.com™ announced the launch of its "Make a Better Commercial Than We Did" contest, scheduled to run through March 28, 2013, with details located at www.freecreditscore.com/contest. The contest offers a $25,000 grand prize1, $2,000 in weekly prizes2 and some less "conventional" prizes — like a fax machine signed by rock 'n' roll front man Bret Michaels3, who stars in one of the company's current commercials.
The "Make a Better Commercial Than We Did" contest challenges entrants to create a video or suggest a concept for an original "mystery slider" ending to the current freecreditscore.com ad campaign, which promotes the Score Planner™, a patented, online and free financial tool for members and nonmembers. Commercials in the campaign feature a young couple seated on a couch, using the Score Planner "sliders" to simulate different credit-related scenarios. Eventually, the couple is confronted with a mystery slider that, when moved, produces unexpected results.
The contest's top-judged video entry earns a grand prize of $25,000. Recognizing video production may not be for everyone, there's also an option to suggest an ending in narrative form. Those entries will be judged weekly over the course of the contest, with a $2,000 prize awarded to the judges' top pick, each week. In addition to a cash prize, the weekly winners of written submissions may have their ideas brought to life by Rhett and Link, creators of original videos garnering more than 5 million YouTube views. There are several ways to submit a suggestion, including an online form, email, Tweet and text message, as well as voice mail, fax and U.S. mail. Depending on the method of entry, participants are eligible for additional unique prizes, reflective of the commercials' quirky mystery slider endings. Examples include the Bret Michaels inscribed fax machine and a porcelain poodle. Complete explanations regarding the different methods of entry are at www.freecreditscore.com/contest.
"Since our Score Planner ads launched at the end of December, we've seen a good amount of buzz in social media," said Ken Chaplin, senior vice president of marketing for freecreditscore.com. "Many people took up the theme of the mystery slider in conversations and remarked what their own mystery sliders would do. We figured that was a great contest waiting to happen."
