February 5 at 3.00 pm - National Press Club, Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American journalist Austin Tice disappeared in Syria in August 2012. His work was published by the McClatchy Newspapers, the Washington Post, Associated Press, AFP, as well as CBS, NPR, and BBC. His reporting was awarded the 2012 George Polk Award for War Reporting and the 2012 McClatchy Newspapers President's Award.
He is still alive and he is not held by ISIS.
His parents, Debra and Marc Tice, are organizing a press conference with the support of Reporters Without Borders to raise awareness on Austin's situation as well as to update on their involvement in the White House hostage policy review. The Tice published an opinion piece in the Washington Post on the current policy review.
The #FreeAustinTice campaign soon to be launched by Reporters Without Borders aims to raise awareness about Austin's situation in order to do everything possible to bring him safely home. The ad agency J.Walter Thompson in New York partnered with RSF and developed pro-bono a campaign around the idea of being blindfolded when journalists are missing.
