Free Workshops Planned for Veteran-, Minority- and Women-Owned Small Businesses to Participate in Recovery Act Opportunities
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The departments of General Services and Environmental Protection will hold free workshops in May to help veteran-, minority- and women-owned small businesses to identify potential business opportunities under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or ARRA.
The workshops will provide an overview of Recovery Act and specific contracting opportunities on projects funded through DEP. The projects involve environmental-related construction services within the general, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical trade areas, designed to help achieve energy conservation and improve efficiency.
The workshops are scheduled as follows:
- Harrisburg: Friday, May 21, 9 a.m. – noon, at the DGS Arsenal Building Board Room, 1800 Herr St., Harrisburg;
- Erie: Monday, May 24, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Gannon University Small Business Development Center, 120 W. Ninth St;
- Pittsburgh: Tuesday, May 25, 9 a.m. – noon, Regional Enterprise Tower, 31st Floor, 425 Sixth Ave;
- Philadelphia: Wednesday, May 26, 9 a.m. – noon, Philadelphia University, Kanbar Performance Center, 4201 Henry Ave.
Presenters will also be available to assist small business owners and provide direction on the ARRA Business Enterprise certification process, as well as general information on doing business with the commonwealth.
