Free Speech TV Announces National Weekly Broadcast of 'Brunch with Senator Bernie Sanders, Hosted by Thom Hartmann'
FSTV to deliver live call-in program with the longest serving independent member of Congress and hosted by the nation's most popular progressive talk radio and television host.
DENVER, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the last six years, the widely-acclaimed The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann has devoted one hour each Friday, to a live call-in segment entitled Brunch with Bernie, where Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) interacts live with audiences from across the nation. Free Speech TV has announced that it will broadcast the hour-long live program to national television audiences on Dish Network and DIRECTV beginning on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 12 p.m. ET.
The weekly call-in program focuses on the latest political news, national policy debates and Senator Sanders' commentary as well as reports on the very latest developments in Congress.
"We are honored to be able to broadcast the voice of America's most independent senator to millions of American households each week. Senator Sanders is an iconic political figure, a powerful voice in Washington standing up for the interests of working people and minorities across the nation," said Don Rojas, Free Speech TV Executive Director.
Speaking about the segment's launch on FSTV, host Thom Hartmann said, "I am thrilled that Free Speech TV will now be bringing Senator Sanders' clear and principled voice into the homes of millions of U.S. households each Friday. For the past six years we've been doing 'Brunch with Bernie' on my national radio program, giving listeners all over the country a chance to dialogue with the Senate's most progressive member. With Bernie now on national television, viewers from around the country will be able to interact weekly with America's Senator."
Senator Sanders' current priorities include reversing global warming, universal health care, fair trade policies, supporting veterans and preserving family farms. He serves on five Senate committees: Budget; Veterans; Energy; Environment; and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. "We live in an age when a small number of giant media corporations control the vast majority of what the American people see, hear, and read. These media conglomerates don't talk about how political decisions affect ordinary working families. Thom Hartmann and Free Speech TV do a great job giving Americans a much-needed alternative," said Senator Bernie Sanders.
Brunch with Senator Bernie Sanders, hosted by Thom Hartmann will broadcast live every Friday at 12 p.m. EDT on Free Speech TV via DISH Network channel 9415, DIRECTV channel 348, and online at FREESPEECH.ORG and on Senator Sanders' website at SANDERS.SENATE.ORG.
