Free IT Security Assessment Wizard Available from CompTIA

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A free tool to help information technology (IT) solution providers boost their customers' security preparedness is available from CompTIA, the IT industry association.

The IT Security Assessment Wizard, developed by the CompTIA IT Security Community, is a free web-based, vendor-neutral tool that IT security providers can use to create a comprehensive security profile for their customers. The end product is an accurate, comprehensive and common sense view of a customer's unique security strengths and vulnerabilities.

"Too many organizations still operate under the 'It can't happen to me' mentality. The reality is a security breach can happen to any business and too often does if they are not prepared."

CompTIA's 11th Annual Information Security Trends study found that just 13 percent of organizations had made significant changes to their security approach over the past two years. Yet during the same time frame, many firms have made significant changes in their technology usage practices; for example, embracing cloud computing, enabling employee BYOD and expanding their use of social tools.

The IT Security Assessment Wizard enables a solution provider to engage their customers and prospects in a simple, yet comprehensive examination of their security infrastructure and practices. It identifies and assesses the tools they currently have in place and offers options for deploying other resources in areas where security may be lacking.
